Please join us for the first PTA meeting of the year in the Hanawalt Art Room!
Tuesday, September 12th
See you there!
Are you ready for a showdown? It’s almost time for Hanawalt’s first annual Cy-Hawk Food Drive Challenge!
Here’s how it works! The Challenge starts on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and ends on Friday, Sept. 8, leading up to the big game on Sept. 9. Each day, you may donate items from the list below. The stage in the Commons will be divided into a Hawkeye side and a Cyclone side. On the way into lunch, students will put items on their favorite team’s side of the stage. Each afternoon, items will be tallied and totals will be announced. Help your team win by bringing in as many items as you can! All items will be donated to the Food Bank of Iowa, which benefits many DMPS food pantries as well as pantries across the metro!
This is a friendly, fun competition where everybody wins!
Here are the most needed items:
Canned meat/fish (chicken, ham, tuna, salmon) Canned soup
Breakfast items (including cereal) Dry pasta
Personal care items (soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.) Pasta sauce
Meal Kits (Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper) Canned vegetables
Canned Fruits 100% fruit juice
Let’s work together to fight hunger! May the best team win!
- Monetary donations are also very helpful! For each $1 collected, the Food Bank of Iowa can provide 4 meals! Each side of the stage will also have a bucket to collect money. For every dollar collected, the team will add 4 items to their total!
